Overview
Brewino is an unofficial, third-party companion app for espresso machines running the open-source Gaggiuino firmware. The app communicates with your machine using its publicly documented APIs over your local network. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the app does and does not collect.
Data Collection
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
Specifically:
- No analytics or tracking — the app contains no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting services, and no advertising frameworks.
- No account required — the app does not require you to create an account or sign in.
- No external servers — all communication stays on your local Wi-Fi network between your device and your espresso machine. The app does not send any data to BrewByte or any third party.
- No third-party services — the app does not integrate with any external services that collect data.
Local Storage
The app stores the following data only on your device:
- Machine address — the hostname or IP address of your espresso machine (e.g.,
gaggiuino.local), saved in the app’s local preferences so you don’t have to re-enter it each time. - User preferences — app settings you configure (units, display options, etc.).
This data never leaves your device and is removed when you uninstall the app.
Permissions
The app requests the following device permissions:
- Local Network Access — required to discover and communicate with your espresso machine on your local Wi-Fi network. This permission is used exclusively for connecting to your machine and does not transmit any data outside your network.
Network Access
The app connects exclusively to your Gaggiuino espresso machine on your local Wi-Fi network using its publicly documented REST API. This connection is used to:
- Read live sensor data (temperature, pressure, flow, weight)
- View and select brew profiles
- View shot history
- Adjust machine settings
No data from these interactions is stored on any external server, logged by BrewByte, or transmitted beyond your local network.
Affiliation
Brewino is an independent, third-party app developed by BrewByte. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Gaggiuino open-source project or Gaggia S.p.A. “Gaggiuino” and “Gaggia” are the property of their respective owners.
Children’s Privacy
The app does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will be reflected in the app’s “About” screen.
